The environment, it's everywhere! So what better thing for us at Calgary A-GoGo to do a show about? The new show, "So Long and Thanks for all the Whales!", features songs, sketches and even some improvised comedy all about the issues affecting the environment today.

Here's the running order of the show:

New Edinberg Festival show

This month sees the prestidgious Edinberg Fringe Festival which every year thousands of performers and hundreds of viewers flock to to see the latest one-man-shows and off-center plays. This year Calgary A-GoGo allumni, Halzius Creepley, is taking his one-man show there. Halzius' show, entitled "Lost In Space-Cake," charts his career from emotionally wrecked actor to narcotically wrecked actor. And this year Calgary A-GoGo is sponsering the show because we always like to support our ex-actors, or deserters, as we affectionately call them. Not only that, but the show mentions Calgary A-GoGo 32 times. Even we have trouble doing that!

Calgary A-GoGo launches it's new show

It's always an event. Every year the Calgary A-GoGo actors spend 4 months preparing for a new show launch. There's the posters to design, flyers to print, myspace invites to send out, and sometimes we even have time to write some new sketches (Not this time sadly). But after all this work, the publicioty department is ready, the actors have re-learnt their lines and Mervin the Myspace Boy has sent out the invites, it's time to announce the new show.

Calgary A-GoGo's new show is called "The Complete History of the Winchester Repeating Rifle 1866-1932 (and this time we've got the bullets)"

In the new show, we dare to poke fun at the taboo subjects of "Guns", "High Murder Rates" and the fact that many Americans and non-Americans are not very pleased with the presidency of George W. Bush. As Candians (with three Americans in our cast) we feel ourselves in the perfect place to cock a snoop (but not a pistol, geddit?) at these topics.

So whatever side of the political fence you sit on, you can always find a place to see the show behind one of our tables.

"The Complete History of the Winchester Repeating Rifle 1866-1932 (and this time we've got the bullets)" premiers for the next 2 weeks, then goes into pre-runs and then finally re-premiers in September.

Calgary A-GoGo new show complete success before it even starts

Calgary A-GoGo's new show, jumping on the broadbandwagon of the e-Internet, the latest computer phenomenon, has been declared a rousing success by Cal Robertson, our new e-Artistic Director. The show, called "Got Yahoo by the Googles," takes a sideways look at the e-Internet, the phenomenon that's sweeping the world, electronically. For those of you who don't know, the e-Internet allows you to upload pictures, videos and articles all about yourself. Said Stelios Mallacacos, one of Calgary A-GoGo's flounders, "It's the greatest self-promotion device in the history of mankind. I love it and wanted to do a show about it." The show features new sketches specifically written about the e-Internet such as one where a Priest, a Rabbi and Buddha walk into a cyber-bar. There are even brand new e-improv games such as "cyber-space Jump" and "robot-rotate-left/right."

Tickets on sale now at the e-Ticket office, which is in the same place, but we've decorated it silver. Happy e-trecking.

Last Calgary A-GoGo Soccer Video Released

Today Calgary A-GoGo released the final video in our Soccer World Series series, in which Soccer supporter, Halzius Creepley, gives his opinions on this amazing feetballing championship. Halzius, or The Unlively Fan, as he is known will give his predictions for the final between Paris United and Valencia Hotspurs (please check these) which will take place in the capital of Germany, East Germany. He will also explain more of the important sokker rules such as, where the "corners" are, what color shirts the Umpires wear and how Tries are scored.

Calgary A-GoGo unveils four new shows

Calgary A-GoGo has been working had behind the scenes to bring you FOUR new shows. Over the past few months, the management and cast have been searching through the archives to come up with the best sketches ever seen on the Calgary A-GoGo stage. The result is FOUR (count them) new shows.

"bESTbITZ" is a collection of sketches voted there favorites by the management of Calgary A-GoGo.

"Fave Raves from the Grave" is a collection of sketches voted for by the actors and vetted by the management of Calgary A-GoGo.

"He Who Knows, Picks" is a personal selection by our Artistic Director, Cal Robertson.

"enormoushits" is a collection of the skteches that nearly made the other shows but had to be left out because of time required for the interval and loud music in between the sketches.

Calgary A-GoGo highly recommends you see ALL these shows, which although they have a common theme, are up to 50% different to each other in content.

Stelios Mallacacos, one of the founders of Calgary A-GoGo, is proud to announce he has been selected to appear in the world-reknowned Filopedia Internet Encyclopedia. Stelios has admitted he is "very pleased" with this celebration of the work he has done in the world. Stelios went on to say, "the article appeared over a month ago, just after I added it, and it is still there today. A glowing testament to the electronic world's appreciation of everything I have done, am doing and will do in the future."

Calgary A-GoGo Brand-new World-Cup tie-in Show, "Own Goal!"

Calgary A-GoGo announce the launch of their brand-new football tie-in show, "Own Goal!"

In this new show, Calgary A-GoGo alumni Halzius Creepley and Calgary A-GoGo co-founder Cal Robertson will help you celebrate everything you love about European-Rules Football, or "Soccer" as you Europeans love to call it.

Our years of living in Europe has given us a unique knowledge of Soccer, and all its rules and legends. So to help you out, we'll answer questions on any of the complexities of the game: The Left-side rule, what the penalty space is for and where the goolies are.

Not only this, but we've completely changed our menu to celebrate this exciting time for world sport. Out goes the "Nachos Special" at 17 Euros, and in comes the "World Soccer Series Nachos" at 24 Euros. Out goes the "Calgary Triple Burger" at 19 Euros and in comes the "Calgary Hat-trick Burger" at 29 Euros. And we've gotten rid of the "Various Barsnacks" at 20 Euros to make way for the "World Championship Super-Challenge Wonder Selection" for 37 Euros. For Holland games everything will be colored orange using FCC-approved orange colorant E129.

So come celebrate your Soccer Olympics with us at Calgary A-GoGo's fantastic "Own Goal!" show.

Tickets: Euro 95 (increased price reflects the fact it's exactly like being in a real soccer arena because we have removed the tables and food is served from traditional European-style hot-dog stand.)

End of an Error

As you know, last year Calgary A-GoGo began its occasional Calgary A-GoGo Improv Cash-In. This was started when we realised there was a sizable community out there who wanted to perform improv and were prepared to pay for it. Calgary A-GoGo was only too happy to help them fulfil their dreams and our coffers. Alas things did not work out as had hoped, due to the following factors:
1) Not enough people turned up. This is despite making it as easy as possible to know when it is - simply call the premium-rate 0907 number the afternoon of the show (usually Tuesday or Wednesday) between 2 and 4 to hear a recorded announcement. And also despite us making entrance absolutely free (with the purchase of three cocktails or a T-shirt).
2) People considered coming along and getting stage-time was somehow a substitute for our Calgary A-GoGo Improv Comedy Courses (levels 1 through to 17) and Calgary A-GoGo Improv Comedy Masterclasses (levels A to J).
3) We need the time to work on our brand new shows: "Bountiful Blitz of Best Bitz from Back Before" and "Say, 'Mould.'"

I can only say, I am disappointed in you all. We tried to help the community with the Calgary A-GoGo Improv Cash-In but you let us down. In fact Calgary A-GoGo is out of pocket (not including the money we got off you from the courses you took in the first place) so much for 'community.'

But please do still come along to the next Calgary A-GoGo All-Out Improv War. And just to let you know, we've upped the price of that to get back the 17 Euro we lost on this last venture.

Calgary A-GoGo Announce Auditions

Calgary A-GoGo are looking for new performers. And maybe it's You!!! Calgary A-GoGo are hosting two auditions this summer.

The first is in Calgary, at the Calgary Improvised Arts Centre, 24 Johnstone Avenue, Central Calgary. It is all day on 24th June, open to any Canadian National with improv experience. Those lucky to pass the audition will be brought hired as First-Team Players for Calgary A-GoGo.

The Second is on the 31 June in the Koudezaal, downstairs at the Theatre De Visplein, Duivendrecht Zuid. Please enter the building through the unmarked door between the slightly marked door and the squeaky door. The Koudezaal is the third door on the left past the second door on the right. The audition is open to EU citizens with a full driving licence; fluent, flawless (Canadian) English; and a degree in Neurology. You must apply in advance by email. The lucky person who gets through will get the chance, after extensive training, to collect tickets at our corporate shows.

Calgary A-GoGo - Most Controversial Show Ever!!!

Calgary A-GoGo have launched their most controversial show ever!!! "Suck This!!!" premiered last night to a packed-out audience of press and Calgary A-GoGo "Buddies". The show features sketches about such taboo subjects as homosexuality, masturbation and incest amongst hillbillies.

Said Cal Robertson, "We're even tackling the biggies. Like, the difference between Canadians and Americans, bicycle theft in Amsterdam and the Nantucket fishing permit controversy.

We've yet to have the reviews translated, but they sure sound good: "Voor mij was de stuk gratis. Ik wil mijn tijd terug," and "'Suck This!!!' - Ik denk dat de woorden omgekeerd zijn."

"Suck This!!!" plays Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with Calgary A-WentWent (old sketches) on Tuesdays and Saturdays and Bedweiser Nyte Tyme Collective on Friday.

New Calgary A-GoGo actors arrive

Yes it's that time of year, ffolks!!! When we say goodbye to old staff and hello to the new cast members.

So back to Canada goes...

Lucille Marceau. Lucille was from the French-speaking part of Canada. Unfortunately her English was not always the best, and in some shows she didn't say much at all, and certainly never after. But she made up for this by being very expressive physically. She knew all the classic mimes: trapped in a box; trappen in a bag; and trapped in a barrel. She will be missed.

Jeanne-Bob Tyler. Jeanne-Bob was from Mooseparts, in the Northern Territories. He brought to The Netherlands his own brand of Mid-Northern humor. "Mooseparts is the Kansas of Canada," Jeanne-Bob was always cracking. He returns home to his wife and four kids.

Halzius Creepley. Halzius assured us he was from Canada, but his voice was always very hard to place. But boy could he improvize. Watching him on stage was spell-binding. Halzius has been with us since nearly the start of Calgary A-GoGo. He was one of the first actors we hired. He found he liked it here in Duivendrecht. When asked, he would always explain, "It's sooo dark, here. Sooo dark." Halzius leaves us to return to Canada to pracice law.

But a big Duivendrecht Hullo!!! to...

Fanny Stretcher. Fanny was born in Ontario and was discovered by Calgary A-GoGo founder Cal Robertson performing in one of his personal favourite films, "Ranch Queens Get Foamy." Where she showed off amply how talented she was. She has performed improv in Los Angeles (USA) where she was based for a while at the "Naughty After Dark Gang(bangers)."

Del Cute. Del was founder of his own improv group in Vancouver, "The Cute All Stars." They played regularly at their venue above Del's father's pancake house.

John Berkinsop. John hales from Montreal where he has been an artist, author, actor, poet, script-writer, producer, stuntman and ballet dancer. He hopes to have more success with improv.

Calgary A-GoGo Presents another Bedweiser Collective

Once again Calgary A-GoGo, in association with Bedweiser (The beer that looks and tastes like America's Most Mass-Produced Beer, but has half the alcohol), presents another Nyte Tyme Collective! Once again, we are using our tried and tested (first time last month) formula of gathering together every current Calgary A-GoGo performer; every former performer who is currently in town; every former student who is now in a relationship with a current performer; and any B-to-Z list celebrities we can get to perform with us.

This week's special guests are:
Kloot van der Grootzak and Pim Eltje - stars of their own late-night TV sketch show, "De Twee Lulzuigers" featuring live pranks and, er, other stuff.
Emil Dzillinch - star of last year's surprise hit movie, "Ingeburger this, mother**cker!"
Joke Tokenbimben - bit player in "Costa!" (episode 4, series 2)
Richard Smegski - star of cancelled, Dutch US-style chat show, "The Hank Lardburger show."

All guests are chosen for their freshness to the improv scene and their ability to bring sex into any situation.

Improv World War 2

The Second Improv World War was fought this weekend on the Calgary A-GoGo stage. Four teams entered one team left. The format was new this time. Instead of improvising, we set the teams off into a series of heated debates about which one was the better.

First up, old-timers, Problem Scenes slagged off Dutch new-comers Eigen Zwaard, who were not able to defend themselves in their second tongue, so merely said how nice it was to be there.

In the next round, raining champions, Kumquat Shed argued with new splinter group Great Assteroids. In a surprise defeat, the verbal dexterity of the Kumquats was found not to be as adept at the new format as the new and loud Assteroids. In the closest vote in the history of the Improv Wars, Great Assteroids went through by one vote. The rules of the Improv World War mean that losing by one vote still means you are the losers, and as such must sit in the losers pen and are no longer allowed the token free beer. This is how we hope to keep alive the spirit of competition that makes improv such fun.

The final was an exiting debate with Problem Scenes and Great Assteroids both tearing into each other's technique, comedy ability and general looks. In the end, the audience was asked to vote for who would be the overall winners of the War, and who would be scribed onto the plastic cup of Improv Shame as coming second place.

In all it was a great day. We showed that Improv does begin with I and that Stage Time ends with Me.

All-Out Improv War Utter Success!

The first ever, "Calgary A-GoGo All-Out Improv War" was a rousing success. Nine teams of former Calgary A-GoGo students fought a tough battle. To find the ultimate Improv Champions of all Duivendrecht. After Calgary A-GoGo, of course.

In the first round, four teams were knocked out: Suicide Mission, Lemmimps, Utterly Implausible and No!

Out of the next round went Mission Improveable, Impropriety and the two valient Dutch groups Tweede Taal and Wat Leuk!

The third round was a tough battle, with Imperfect Harmony and Voting Scam
finally being knocked out.

This left a big, big final in which Problem Scenes lost out to Boy Band from Groningen. The winners were written onto "The List Of Fame" which will be pinned to the Calgary A-GoGo Noticeboard! at the back of the Theatre De Visplein bar.

All-Out World Improv War II will be in 6 months time.

Calgary A-GoGo Anounce New Price Structure!

Calgary A-GoGo, as part of their "Everyone's A Winner" campaign, have totally revamped their pricing strategy, and you, the customer, will come out on tops in many of the scenarios.

An ordinary ticket for a Regular Wednesday, Thursday or Friday show is now 15 Euro.
The Super-Size-Show Tickets on Saturday and Tuesday are now 20 Euro.
But if you order two Super-Size-Show Tickets and reserve a Regular Show ticket, you save two Euros by receiving a Two Euros Drink Voucher redeemable against beer, soft drinks and all Cocktails except Margaruitas.
If you buy a Super-Size-Show Ticket on a Tuesday, you are entitled to one-third off a ticket at any of the the next three Regular shows, provided you have seen a Regular show sometime in the previous three months.
If you have the receipt to a ticket to a Regular show from exactly nine days before, and were accompanied by six other people, you can see a Super-Size-Show for half price, provided the Super-Size-Show falls on a day following a public holiday.

Group Discounts
Groups of ten can get discounts for Regular tickets if there are seven girls and three boys, and groups of fifteen can see the Super-Size-Show for the price of 14 people if one of girls is exactly two meters tall and has documentary proof she has visited relatives in Uzbekistan in the last 6 months.

Calgary A-GoGo Announce New Show!!!

Calgary A-GoGo release their exciting new show this week. It promises to be about big current topics and is called "Vol 5, Issue 1." When asked how this show differs from the previous show, "Vol 4, Issue 4," a GoGo spokesman said, "The picture we're using to promote it is entirely different, we've completely changed the order of two of the pieces and there are no longer references to Al's Shoarma." Al's Shoarma closed in 1998.

Calgary A-GoGo First Half Decade!

This weekend, Calgary A-GoGo celebrates their 5 anniversary. It was five years ago, this weekend, that Cal Robertson, Brad Bradson and Chuck "The Cheese" Rabbinovski formed the idea to put together a comedy improv group in their adoptive home in Duivendrecht. It was barely a year later, they moved into their first theatre, De Groene Vis, Bovenkamer 2. To celebrate this great plan, formed in the early hours in the Happy Tolk coffeeshop, Calgary A-GoGo are reducing the prices of their show by one Euro for every year they since that date, for groups of five people or more.

Says Brad Bradson, Calgaro A-GoGo's CEO of Corporate Publicity Statments, "Our shows have always been, like, great, but they just got a little cheaper. For this weekend only."

The fun starts this Friday with their Calgary Latenight Nightlife Nightshow. First beer is free, if purchase as part of their Super Cocktail Deal. 4 cocktails for the price of 3.

So why not come on down! (Or up) to their new venue, Theatre De Visplein, Duivendrecht Zuid.
